poolFORCE-15yrWarranty-logoOur commercial swimming pool membranes have more than 2 times the strength of the traditional 20-27 MIL liners available to you today. This makes us the product of choice to replace old liners or to upgrade leaking, cracked concrete swimming pools and prevent expensive water loss.

Our poolFORCE dealers/installers are factory-trained and certified to bring you the best product on the market to solve your leaking pool problems, renovate your pool, or to replace your old pool liner. We offer a 15-Year Water Tightness Warranty on our pool liners.

The manufacturer, Elbtal Plastics, represents 120 years of German engineering. The membrane which is made from pure virgin resin material, is environmentally safe and odorless. The installation process (welding) produces extremely low fumes, which is important in an indoor environment.

How to clean swimming pool liners?

Proper use of chemicals and regular monitoring of your water will help to reduce chemical damage, metal stains, and algae growth in your pool. However, you still need to clean your vinyl liner pool on a regular basis to keep it looking its best. Regular cleaning will keep dirt to a minimum, though you may still need to do some heavy duty cleaning once or twice a season.

You will need:

  • Nylon pool brush
  • Soft cloths
  • Mild cleanser
  • Ascorbic acid pool mitt (optional)

Use the nylon pool brush to scrub down your entire liner on a weekly basis throughout the swimming season. A brush without any sharp edges is best. A liner is susceptible to tearing, so sharp edges can easily cause damage.

Apply a mild cleanser directly to dirt on the liner, or rub it on with a soft cloth. Use ascorbic acid, or Vitamin C, to help get rid of stubborn stains, which are likely metal stains. You can use Vitamin C tablets intended for ingestion, or you can get granular ascorbic acid intended to use in pools, such as Vita-D-Chlor. Rub the ascorbic acid onto the stain and you should see an immediate effect.

Check the water line regularly for build up, this can eventually build up enough to collect dirt and stain your vinyl liner with metal stains. Rubbing the waterline with a pool scrubbing mitt makes this maintenance easier. Add a small amount of cleanser or ascorbic acid if needed.

Cleaning a swimming pool liner can involve draining the pool and scrubbing down the surface with cleansers formulated for the task.

With proper care, a liner can easily last for many years before replacement is required.

How long will a swimming pool liner last?

The traditional 20-27 MIL in-ground pool liner will last 5 to 10 years. Ultimate Pool Surface’s new superior 60 MIL liner will last 15 to 20 years. The 60 MIL liner absorbs less than half the water of the competition, creating a much longer life of the product

Generally, a properly installed liner guarantees longevity but other factors also must be considered, such as water chemistry and chemicals used.

Generally, the life of your pool liner depends on the following:

  • The amount of direct sun light that the pool receives. If the pool gets a lot of direct sun light, then it will fade some over time.
  • Chemicals. Keeping your pool chemicals properly balanced will help to keep the liner from fading. Don’t throw tablets to the bottom of a vinyl liner swimming pool, the chlorine can burn a hole in the liner.
  • A salt water pool will extend the life of a liner. The chlorine made by the salt purification system is better long term on the liner than putting chlorine tablets in a skimmer, chlorinator or floater.

When having a new pool liner installed, always make sure to have a pool professional with experience install the new liner. This will avoid complications.

Why does a swimming pool leak?
Concrete/gunite, vinyl and fiberglass are the three main types of materials used for in-ground swimming pools. Each are vulnerable to different forms of leaks and requires various methods to repair.

Vinyl liners can leak through natural deterioration and environmental exposure. If the vinyl liner has a small puncture, it can be easily located and patched. If the leak has existed for a longer period, it may cause damage to the liner by allowing water to collect behind it. This causes it to stretch and pull away from the top edge. In addition to structural leaks, skimmers, main drains and return lines are top culprits of swimming pool leaks.

Gunite is a mixture of cement, sand and water that can be molded into any shape desired. Gunite is porous and should not be used by itself to construct a pool. There must be a water barrier between the porous gunite and the pool water, such as plaster.

Plaster is applied to ensure a smooth pool surface and to create a barrier between the pool water and the gunite. If the plaster is not thick enough, it could allow water to seep through the gunite. This will result in water loss that is difficult to isolate without draining the pool. Seasonal changes such as freezing and thawing will cause plaster to eventually crack. Proper winterization of your pool will help to keep the gunite/plaster structure intact.

Fiberglass pools are prefabricated shells. When a fiberglass pool has a leak, it is important to maintain the water level or the pool shell may “float” out of the ground if the water level in the ground is higher than that in the pool. If the water level inside the pool is too low, the sides could bulge inward from the pressure of the surrounding soil. A floating fiberglass pool can also crack the deck and cause massive damage to the pool’s plumbing.
